Terrance J Bates of Newtown received a bachelor of music degree on Saturday, May 7, from Bowling Green State University.

Ryan James Shanley, the son of David and Ruth Shanley, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in public administration on May 7 from Cedarville University.

Keene State College released the names of area students who participated in the May 8 Commencement ceremony. Ross Evan Brier, Kathleen Susan Gugino, and Tiffany Erin Wolfe received bachelor of arts degrees. Casey Adam Cole of Southbury also received a BA. Patrick Robert Monanhan of Sandy Hook received a bachelor of science degree.

Thomas Jonathan Hunt, a junior at Washington and Lee University, has earned honor roll status for the recently ended winter term. Honor roll status at Washington and Lee represents a term grade average of at least a 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.

Matthew Cullinan has received acceptance into the prestigious program offered by the British American Drama Academy. Based on an audition, Matthew has been offered admission to the midsummer in Oxford program. Upon completion of the course this summer he will perform in a Shakespeare play.

Western Connecticut State University will be holding commencement exercises at 10:30 am on Sunday, May 22. Joining the 797 bachelor’s candidates and 192 master’s candidates on the athletic practice field on the university’s Westside campus, Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury, will be WestConn’s newly inaugurated eighth president, Dr James W Schmotter, who will preside over his first commencement ceremony at WestConn.

Lauralton Hall names honor students for the third marking term. The following students have attained high honor roll status: Nicole Boggs and Ashley Braun. Those receiving honor roll status were: Kristen DeCesare, Kathleen Murphy, Ashley Calero, Brianna Barry, Patricia Culligan, Anne LoPiccolo, Rachael Rowan, and Katelyn Power.
