Bernice A.    Chamberland

Bernice A. Chamberland, 85, of Elizabeth Circle, Sandy Hook, died May 9 in River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury. Mrs Chamberland was the wife for 59 years of J. Henri (Chet) Chamberland, until his death in 2001.

She is survived by a son, Robert Chamberland, and a daughter, Nancy Belanger, both of Sandy Hook; a sister, Arline Dioro of Southbridge, Mass.; two grandchildren, Susan Belanger Quirk of Newtown and Jeffrey Belanger of Bellingham, Mass.

Mrs Chamberland was born in Southbridge, Mass., on September 16, 1919, a daughter of the late Louis and Leocadia (Witkage) Lapointe. Bernice was a longtime resident of Southbridge where she worked in the town treasurer’s office and for TAG Associates. An avid golfer, Mrs Chamberland was a former member of the Cohasse Country Club. She had lived in Sandy Hook for the past eight years and was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:15 am Saturday, May 14, in St Hedwig’s Church, Southbridge, Mass. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham MA 01701.

 Arrangements are by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
