The show will also include sets by JURASSIC 5, DONAVON FRANKENREITER and THE BLACK KEYS (and probably many combinations of the above.

If country is more your liking (and you want to help one cowboy continue to celebrate the stunning announcement this week of his marriage to Renee Zellweger, girlfriend of less than five months), tickets for KENNY CHESNEY’s July 21 concert will be going on sale Saturday at 10. Tickets are $33.25 for the lawn or $67.75 for the pavilion. Gretchen Wilson and Pat Green will each have opening sets.

THE MOODY BLUES, however, will be setting up show at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford on Sunday, July 10. Tickets for that show will be available for $35, $45 and $55, and will be going on sale Monday, May 16, at 10 am.

Meadows tickets are still being sold through the box office at the Oakdale, and through the TicketMaster vendor of your choice.

*One of the week’s biggest music stories came when THE ROLLING STONES played a three-song show in New York City on Tuesday afternoon, which was followed by the announcement of another world tour for the band.

Great news for Connecticut fans: The guys will play only the second concert ever at Rentschler Field in August this summer. After kicking off their tour on August 21 at Fenway Park, The Stones will be in East Hartford five nights later.

Tickets for the Friday, August 26 show will be on sale Saturday, May 21, at 10 am, through TicketMaster vendors. Seats have been set at $60, $95 and $160, and if any of the 40,000 tickets are still remaining after Saturday morning they’ll be available from the box office at Hartford Civic Center (HCC won’t be open for first-day sales) beginning Monday, May 23.

Tickets are going on sale Saturday, May 14, at 10 am, and have been set at $25 and $40. They’ll be available through TicketMaster. The Soundtrack of Our Lives will be opening.

*A reminder that Spencer Swain’s band will be returning to the area next week. ZOX will be headlining on Thursday, May 19, at The Acoustic Café in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Casual Fiasco has the opening set. Tickets are $5 for ages 21 and over, $9 for ages 20 and under.

*Tickets are still available for what should be a fantastic concert at Danbury Music Centre next weekend.

CHERYL WHEELER will be at 256 Main Street for a performance on Friday, May 20. Showtime is 7:30 (doors will open at 7), and the opening set will be by Danbury’s own LYS GUILLORN.

*Black Rock Arts Center will present its next weekend-long event, a Celtic music festival, on May 21 and 22.

Fifteen of the state’s leading traditional Irish musicians, THE SHAMROGUES will offer an Irish House party on Saturday, May 21, at 7:30 pm. The band promises music and songs on bagpipes, fiddles, tin whistles, button accordions, mandolins, banjos, bodhran, hammered dulcimer and more.

Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for ages 12 and under.

On Sunday the performers will be JOHN WHELAN & JOHN BRENNAN; call for start time. Tickets for this show are $15 online advance and $20 at the door.

Mr Whelan is the winner of at least seven All-Ireland and a number of All-English button accordion championships. He was a featured musician in “Riverdance,” appeared in the motion picture Ride With The Devil, and was named Traditionalist of the Year by Irish Echo magazine.

John Brennan, meanwhile, has been called one of the most gifted guitarists and composers of any genre, hailed by former Byrds legend Chris Hillman as “one of the best musicians I have ever worked with...”

These guys are not unfamiliar to regular readers of The Bee and followers of the local traditional Irish music scene. Just this past January, Mr Brennan served as the master sound engineer during a concert at Newtown Meeting House featuring the fiddler Liz Carroll and the guitarist John Doyle. In January 2003, Mr Brennan and Mr Whelan co-headlined at the same venue.

*TEAM SLEEP, featuring Chino Moreno of THE DEFTONES, will be at The Webster Theatre in Hartford on Monday, May 30.

Also recently added to the Webster’s schedule is CHARLOTTE MARTIN (in The Webster Underground) on July 7; MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE, June 8; MONTY’S FAN CLUB (also in The Underground), June 26; and BRET MICHAELS on June 30. All of these shows will be on sale by this weekend, and they’re all open to all ages.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
