NEW YORK CITY — The Fischbach Gallery is showing a group exhibition, “Transmitting From The Third Planet From The Center Of The Universe,” through August 14.

The exhibit features the work of Joe Brainard, Alice Dalton Brown, Leigh Behnke, Daisy Craddock, Thomas Cordell, Barbara Dixon Drewa, Christopher Evans, John Falato, Fredericka Foster, Michiyo Fukushima, Patrick Gordon, Nancy Hagin, Glen Hansen, Glen Holland, John Laub, Anita Mazzucca, Denise Mickilowski, Brad Marshall, Carl Plansky, Paul Rickert, Meg Shields, George Siejka, Emma Tapley, Lowell Tolstedt and Alexandra Tyng

“Transmitting From The Third Planet From The Center Of The Universe” presents a selection of these gallery artists’ varied observations on the world as it exists around them, whether a vivid landscape, a lush atmosphere or an alluring still life. The work represents a unique perception view of the human place and role in the universe.

“This Southern Hemisphere, so far from home, Rolls beneath my keel like a river. I am crossing water, Without the pole star leading, To go where different winds, Will blow the stars together, And mix them like oil paint. Blow the stars together, Mix them like oil paint. Brush them with clouds Paint the stars with black weather, And cloud them with rain, Murderous rain slanting on a gale’s edge.” The writing by Brian Hill, from A Celestial Journey, is the philosophical concept behind each of the works on view.

The Fischback Gallery is at 210 Eleventh Avenue, between 24 and 25 Streets. For information, 212-759-2345 or www.fischbackgallery.com.
