Norman H. Peck, Jr

Norman H. Peck, Jr, 70, of Peck Lane, Bethany, died May 2 at the Hospital of St Raphael, New Haven. He was the devoted husband of Betty (Qubick) Peck.

Mr Peck was born January 12, 1930, in New Haven, son of Elsie (Saxton) Peck of Trumbull, and the late Norman H. Peck, Sr. He was a life-long Bethany resident and a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church. He was a retired installer and tool maintenance mechanic for the Southern New England Telephone Company, New Haven, where he worked for 40 years. He served in the US Navy.

 He was an avid NASCAR racing and hockey fan. He also was a former stock car driver at Savin Rock and Plainville Raceways. He also was the owner of Peck’s Kart Shop. He was known throughout the racing circuit with his son, Alan W. Beck, and grandson. He was a motor builder, mechanic, and crew chief for his son’s many race wins and a National Karting Championship.

Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his son, Alan W. Peck of Bethany and his daughter, Debbie Carature of Ansonia; his brother, Robert Hickey of Bethany; two sisters, Shirley M. Romano of Naples, Fla., and Jeanne Knecht of Trumbull; four grandchildren, Christina Peck and Gregory Peck, of Bethany, and Lauren Carature and Lindsay Carature of Ansonia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Robinson. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather ever.

 Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, Seymour, was in charge of arrangements.
