Mary Elizabeth Duffy, 48, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., died unexpectedly May 7. Born in Tarrytown, N.Y., she was a daughter of Carmella and Thomas Duffy.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a son, Ethan Thomas Duffy of Murrells Inlet; brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph M. and Nancy Duffy of Sandy Hook and Thomas J. and Kelli Duffy of Bethel; and seven nephews and nieces.

Ms Duffy was an administrator for the Garden City/Murrells Inlet Fire Department. She was a graduate of Bethel High School and Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

A funeral mass will take place at 10 am, Tuesday, May 12, at St Michael Catholic Church, Murrells Inlet, with Father Ed Fitzgerald officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, May 11.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the Garden City/Murrells Inlet Fire Department for its heroic efforts on her behalf.
