To the Editor:

Newtown is blessed in many ways and the Booth Library is one of our greatest blessings.

I had the opportunity to work with the staff and “Friends” of the Library for eight months. Almost to a person, I met some outstanding people who are quite dedicated to maintaining and improving Booth Library.

Chris in the Maintenance Dept is one of the hardest working and most conscientious people I’ve met in my life. Denise is an invaluable volunteer for the Friends of the Library, and has a great crew with her. I especially enjoyed talking with her, Jim, Eric and Marge.

The staff was also very friendly and easy to work with. My favorites were Lauren, Jon, Meg and Shari.

My position of part-time maintainer is now available. It has a very high turnover rate. I believe I was the tenth person to quit or be fired in the last couple of years. So, unfortunately, I can’t recommend this job to anyone.
