Lisa Condon has been named Newtown's Paraeducator of the Year.

The Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools Joseph V. Erardi, Jr, announced Ms Condon earning the award on April 7.

Ms Condon began in the district in 2002 at Sandy Hook Elementary School before transferring to work at Newtown High School in 2007.

Ms Condon works closely with special education students and is a dedicated advocate of their needs, according to a release from the district. She is passionate about her work and is committed to providing the best support for their students. She is also appreciated by students and staff for her kindness, humor, integrity, and positive attitude, according to the district.

Ms Condon will be honored at the state level for the award on October 6.
