Silent Auction Is About Residents Helping Residents
Silent Auction Is About Residents Helping Residents
To the Editor:
A Silent Auction to benefit âA New Pound for Newtownâ begins this weekend at The Inn at Newtown and will culminate on Sunday, May 18. A preview book, including photos of silent auction items, gift certificates, and bid sheets, will be available at the managerâs desk for you to peruse and bid at your leisure. Throughout the day on Sunday, May 18, the inn will provide a private room where all of the silent auction items will be on display along with corresponding bid sheets. Bidding will close at 7 pm with pick up available until 8:30 pm. Additional pick up hours will be Monday from 11 am to 3 pm.
A new pound is sorely needed. With the passing of the town budget, Newtown is one step closer to beginning construction. However, additional funds are badly needed to achieve the objective of providing a safe, clean, and adequate facility for stray and abandoned animals in Newtown. The new facility will have ample space for storage, exercise, and grooming, as well as isolation for sick animals. A separate cat room is also in the works.
This event is about âNewtown Helping Newtown!â Newtown establishments and residents have donated over 25 fabulous silent auction items such as: a World Wrestling Entertainment package including a Superstar Meet and Greet, four tickets to RAW and more; an evening stay at The Inn at Newtown and at The Dana-Holcombe House; your portrait by Cynthia McIntyre Photography of Newtown; tutoring sessions to WHIZard Academy and MindChallenge; a spa package; signed watercolor by California artist Justin Faivre; Savings Bond; Victorinox menâs Swiss Army Watch, Starbucks coffee and many more.
No matter what your interests are, this event is a winner for Newtown!
