Newtown head coach Marty Margulies commended his top doubles tandem of Tenney and Timo Roehrs for coming back from a 5-3 third set deficit and then hanging on to clinch the win their second match this season over their Bethel opponents. The first meeting between these doubles teams was also closely fought, with the Newtown tandem prevailing in a similarly-close three-setter, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Manos also showed poise, Margulies noted, in staving off a late comeback and then rallying himself when he was down 5-4 in the second set.
