Newquist’s Work Accepted

Into Juried Show

“Sun Shade,” a watercolor painting by the nationally known Newtown artist Ruth Newquist, NWS, is on exhibit at “Art in the House,” a regional juried fine art and sculpture exhibition at the historic Bradley Hubbell House, 535 Black Rock Turnpike in Easton, the weekends of May 10-11 and 17-18. An opening reception is planned for Friday, May 9.

Admission is free and show hours are 10 am to 5 pm each day.

Ms Newquist is one of a select group of artists from fifteen Connecticut towns and one neighboring state whose work is among the 52 works on display selected from many entries by the juror Virginia Zic, professor emerita in the Department of Art and Design at Sacred Heart University.

The exhibition includes paintings and sculpture selected by Ms Zic. Past presentations have offered original representational or abstract art in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, drawing and mixed media, as well as sculpture.

“Art in the House” is an annual fundraising event of Easton Arts Council Easton. Proceeds of art and sculpture purchases will aid the restoration of the Bradley Hubbell House and further the arts in Easton. For more information call 203-374-0705 or visit EastonArtsCouncil.org
