Move The Municipal Offices To Fairfield Hills
Move The Municipal Offices
To Fairfield Hills
To the Editor:
When the Town of Brookfield outgrew its town hall, a bigger building was built to house all municipal offices together, with a sign out front that says Brookfield Municipal Center. The original town hall is called Old Town Hall and is rented to regional offices â the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials and the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority.
Edmond Town Hall will always be Edmond Town Hall, with its movie theater, its gymnasium, and the Alexandria Room, which will have a newly remodeled kitchen for catering. By moving all town (municipal) offices and the Board of Education offices into a building the town already owns at Fairfield Hills, we will be saving more than $18,000 per month for rent at the Kendro building and $200,000 per year in rent to the Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers for the small amount of office space used there. This will provide efficiency for town departments, as well as the public. While there is no certainty that the income from the Hawley Trust would be lost, it is approximately $30,000 per year.
And there can be a sign at Fairfield Hills that says Newtown Municipal Center.
