Honda Vs VW

Police report a two-car accident in stop-and-go traffic conditions at the intersection of South Main Street and Country Club Road about 11 am April 30.

Motorist Danielle Ann DiCrescenzo, 26, of Bethel, who was driving a 2003 Honda coupe southward on South Main Street, struck the rear end of a southbound 2008 Volkswagen Jetta sedan driven by Shelley Norkowski, 38, of Brookfield, police said.

There were no injuries, police said. DiCrescenzo received a written warning for following too closely.

Hazardous Intersection

Police report a collision at the hazardous intersection of Main Street and Currituck Road about 4:30 pm April 30.

Motorist Stephen Barna, 60, of Bethel was driving a 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northward on Main Street, police said.

Motorist Roderic Kiely, 19, of 18 Botsford Hill Road, who was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo coupe, stopped at a stop sign on southbound Currituck Road before attempting to make a left turn onto southbound Main Street, police said.

As the Chevrolet attempted to make the left turn, the Chevrolet and Toyota collided, police said.

There were no injuries. Kiely received a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign.

Sandy Hook Center

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Glen Road, Riverside Road, Washington Avenue and Church Hill Road about 8:20 am May 1.

Motorist James Cotter, 47, of Bethlehem, who was driving a 2005 Ford Freestyle, was waiting on southbound Glen Road for a red traffic signal to turn green, when the Ford was struck from behind by motorist Aileen Spak, 46, of 24 Edgelake Drive, who was driving a 1996 Audi A-6 sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Spak received a written warning for following too closely.

South Main Rollover

A two-vehicle accident, in which one of the vehicles completely rolled over, occurred at the intersection of South Main Street and Cold Spring Road in Botsford about 9 am May 1.

Police said motorist Joycelyn Kowats, 42, of 9 Swamp Road, who was driving a 1998 Lincoln Town Car sedan, was at the eastern end of Cold Spring Road and then began to make a left turn onto northbound South Main Street.

At that time, motorist Patricia Steimle, 45, of 53 Sugar Lane was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer SUV southward on South Main Street, police said.

As the Ford passed the intersection of South Main Street and Cold Spring Road, the Lincoln struck the passenger side of the Ford, causing the Ford to completely roll over and land on its wheels, police said.

Ambulance personnel transported Steimle to Danbury Hospital where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. Kowats was not injured, according to police. Botsford firefighters went to the accident.

Police issued Kowats an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign and for driving without a license.

DUI Arrest

State police report that motorist Natasha Seferovic, 20, of Monroe, who was driving a 1998 Mazda Protégé eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 8, was involved in a collision with motorist Eric Johnson, 42, of Willington, who was driving a 2007 Honda Civic, after which the Mazda continued traveling eastward about 5:30 am May 2.

State police said that Johnson followed the Mazda, and Johnson alerted them of the accident by telephone.

State police stopped the Mazda near Exit 11 to investigate, after which they charged Seferovic with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to drive in the proper lane. State police held her in custody for a court appearance later that day.

SUV Crash

Motorist Gordon Shine, 16, of 4 Edgewood Drive was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango SUV northward on Toddy Hill Road about 10:40 pm May 2, when the vehicle approached a curve to the left and went out of control, striking an embankment and then colliding with guardrailing, police report.

Police said ambulance volunteers treated both Shine and SUV passenger Catherine Donohue, 17, of Fawnwood Road for injuries, but both refused medical transport. Police issued Shine a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Hattertown Road

Motorist Kristin Siniak, 19, of Bethel was driving a 1999 Honda Accord northward near 183 Hattertown Road about 6 am May 3, when the vehicle veered out of its travel lane and collided with a mailbox and utility pole, according to police.

Siniak was uninjured. Police issued her an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Subaru Vs Rails

Motorist Alexandra Obando, 18, of Danbury was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza sedan westward on Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 12:40 pm May 3, when the auto went out of control, traveled off the left side of the road and struck metal-beam guardrailing on the highway’s median, state police said.

Obando was not injured. State police said they warned Obando for traveling unreasonably fast.

Flagpole Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the flagpole intersection at Main Street, Church Hill Road, and West Street about 12:43 pm on May 3.

The collision involved motorist Gordon Adams, 62, of 1 Wiley Lane, who was driving a 2006 Honda Element, and motorist Adam Wenick, 16, of 15 Ashford Lane, who was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima sedan, police report.

The Honda was traveling southward on Main Street as the Nissan was attempting to turn left from Church Hill Road onto southbound Main Street before the collision occurred, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Adams for passing on the right.

Minivan Hits Pole

About 2:30 pm May 3, motorist Kristen Stolfi, 39, of 39 The Boulevard, who was driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan, made a right turn from Silver City Road and entered southbound Hanover Road, police said.

The minivan then traveled about 200 feet and collided with a utility pole along the right road shoulder, police said. Stolfi was not injured. Police issued her an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Marijuana/Alcohol

About 9:30 pm May 3, police received a report of suspicious vehicles parked along Paugussett Road in Sandy Hook, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they found a group of youths gathered in a wooded area near some homes there.

After investigating, police arrested one 17-year-old youth on a charge of possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. That youth was released from custody on written promise to appear May 16 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

Additionally, police arrested another 17-year-old youth on a charge illegal possession of alcohol by a minor in public. Police issued that youth an infraction ticket on the charge.

State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Waterbury Man Charged

While on patrol about 10 pm May 3, police spotted motorist Daniel F. Jones, 25, of Waterbury driving a Honda automobile which had no front marker plate westward on Wasserman Way, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police charged Jones with failure to display a marker plate and with driving with a suspended license. Following processing, Jones was released from police custody on $200 bail for a May 16 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.

Sneaker Theft

On the night of May 4, a Newtown High School student turned himself in the police station after learning that police held a warrant for his arrest.

Police allege that the boy stole another student’s sneakers at the high school, so they arrested him on a charge of sixth-degree larceny.

Following arrest booking, police released the boy on a written promise to appear in Danbury Youthful Offender Court on May 16. State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with criminal offenses.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, John Willmott, 40, of 56 Osborne Hill Road turned himself in at the police station on the night of May 5, police said.

Police said they charged Willmott with violation of probation and with driving under the influence. The charges stem from a 2005 incident, police said.

After processing, police released Willmott on $5,000 bail for a May 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Charge

Police said they received a report of a vehicle that had gone off the road near 71 Dodgingtown Road about 10:54 pm May 2, so they went to the area to investigate.

After investigating, police charged motorist Sarah Krzysztalowicz, 26, of 183 Sugar Street with driving under the influence, failure to stay in the established lane, and interfering with police.

After processing, police released Krzysztalowicz on $500 bail for a May 14 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

Wasserman Way

Police report that while traveling in a no-passing zone, motorist Gary Phillips, 52, of Southbury, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck westward on Wasserman Way about 6:18 pm on April 30, attempted to pass westbound motorist Nazia Ahmed, 47, of 26 Whitewood Road, who was driving a 1997 Mazda Protégé sedan.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Phillips an infraction ticket on a charge of improper passing.

DUI Arrest

About 11 pm May 5, motorist Robert Testa, 34, of Trumbull was seen driving a 2000 Chrysler Concorde sedan erratically northward on South Main Street, police said.

Police said they stopped Testa to investigate, after which he failed field sobriety testing.

Police charged Testa with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics, and failure to keep narcotics in their original container.

After arrest processing, police held Testa on $25,000 bail for a May 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
