Cub Scouts

To Boy Scouts

To the Editor:

Scatacook District of Connecticut Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America includes the communities of Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, and Sherman. Currently the Webelos II Cub Scouts of these respective towns are in the process of “crossing over” from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.

Scatacook District congratulates these young men on their achievements in Cub Scouting and welcomes them as they continue their Scouting journey as Boy Scouts. This experience will further contribute to their values of community service, patriotism, citizenship, and doing their very best in all undertakings. The Webelos II Scouts that earned the highest rank in Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light, are especially qualified to attain the highest rank in Boy Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. Good luck to all of you!

Scatacook District encourages their respective towns to keep their Scouting Units informed of all volunteer service opportunities. Community service is an integral facet of the Scouting program, especially in Eagle Scout projects that often exceed 300 hours of focused labor and involve broad participation from supporting scouts, parents, and friends.

Our Boy Scout troops will soon begin their summer programs that will include, long-term camping, hiking, canoe trips, bike trips, advancement opportunities, leadership training, and additional community service projects. We wish them safe and good times as they explore and enjoy the great outdoors of our beautiful country.

Scatacook District also expresses appreciation to the organizations that sponsor our Scouting Units and to the adult leaders that make the Scouting program such a huge success in our communities and most of all for the Scouts.

Respectively submitted,

Thomas M. Maxwell II

Scatacook District, BSA

Assistant District Commissioner
