Girls C/D
Eagles 2, Cheetahs 1 â Emily Kluga and Danielle Norris scored the goals that lifted the Eagles to the win. Jane Cozens and Jessica Lively had strong performances on defense. The Cheetahs scored on a goal by Sara Pollack with a great assist from Emily Lockheart. Marissa Hansen turned in one of her best games at the midfield position.
Strikers 3, Turkeys 2 â Jennifer Brill, Allie Kirk and Meghan Barbour each scored for the Strikers in this closely fought contest. Mandy Nostrand turned in a solid performance in goal. Shaina Musco scored both goals for the Turkeys with assists from Megan Keenen. Melisa Paynter was strong on defense, while Meaghan Brophy foiled many Striker attacks in the goal.
Boys C/D
South Park Wolf Pack 4, Clash 4 â Zachary Schwartz scored three goals and providing an assist to Maxwell Paynter for another to lead the Wolf Pack. Steven Jaroszewski and Evan Batzer played great in goal to preserve the tie.For the Clash, Blake Barreto scoring three goals while Stephen Musco played great in goal while Bernie Navarro and Tommy Mascher played good all around.
Girls E
Da Bears 1, Panthers 1 â Nicole Nunmemacher, Katilin Brophy and Jennifer Smith powered the Bears offense. Kayla Buckley and Sarah McMahon in goal, and Sheena Finlayson, were equallya s strong on D for the Panthers. The lone goals were scored by Nicole Vournazos for Da Bears and Danielle Villa for the Panthers .
Hurricanes 4, Mini M&Ms 0 â Stephanie Arndt scored three goals in leading the Hurricanes to victory. Emma Whitley-Rodriguez recorded the other tally. Nicole Gindrauz played well in goal. Abby Keough and Jessica Cherry played well on the defensive side of the field for the M&Ms.
Girls F
Thunderbolts 3, Tornadoes 2 â Christina Corporale scored all the goals for the Thunderbolts and was assisted by Alexa Powell and Nora Murphy. Julianna Scalfani and Abby Doshi scored for the Tornadoes. Jenna Hinds played well as goalie.
Shooting Stars 3, Blizzard 1 â Jen Van Veen scored a hat trick to lead the Shooting Stars to the win. Stephanie Roman scored early in the game to tie the score 1-1. Alexandra Buttery and Sarah Cousins each had solid games for the Blizzard.
Hot Shots 4, Wildcats 0 â Kelsey Karp scored three goals, Lyndsey Pearlman scored once, and Leighanne Pelillo played a good game to lead the Hot Shots to the win. For the Wildcats, Megan OâConnell and Rebecca Silveira had good games. Lauren Sarna and Sydney Hansen played well in goal.
Boys F
Bobcats 5, Hawks 1 â Daniel Gallagher scored a pair of goals while Chris Arnone, Paolo Moscovici and Ben Stoller scored one apiece to pace the Bobcats. Connor Quinn scored the lone goal for the Hawks while Mat Baldini and Nick Gerbo had strong performances.
Roadrunners 1, Electric Eagles 1 â Justin Brophy of the Roadrunners and Griffin Paynter of the Electric Eagles scored the only goals in this tightly contested match. For the Roadrunners, Sean Watkins and Joey Fellin each had two saves in goal and Pieter Martino provided strong midfield play. Ian Solaski, Reid Higham, and William Carr had good, solid games for the Electric Eagles.
Nighthawks 3, Thunderbolts 1 â Josh Villa, Jack Curry and Alex Roach scored the goals that lifted the Nighthawks to the win. Rickey Kerins and Ryan OâKeefe sparked the defense. For the âBolts, Nick Barreto scored the only goal as Anders Fogelberg and Sean Elliott played well.
Boys U10
Strikers 7, Woodbury 1 â The Strikers started the spring season with a goal in the first minute of play set up by Josh Engler and scored by Daniel Lynch. Quick successive goals came from Eric Thornberg, Kai Aschick and Kyle Moore. In the second half, Woodbury finally found its feet and scored but the Strikers, with some strong team work and good passing, came right back with goals from Kyle Wildman, Nick Wright and a second from Thornberg.

Roadrunners 0, Southbury 0 â The Roadrunners held for a tie in this defensive struggle. Emma Kingsley, Sarah Murtha, and Katie OâDell played great at midfield. Rebecca Castegner and Jillian Jagoe played strong at striker. Allison Pliszka and Kelly OâConnor anchored the strong defense.
Girls U11
Monroe 2, Rampage 1 (State Cup) â Laura Bittman scored the lone Newtown goal, but a 1-0 lead did not hold up in State Cup action. Katie Pessin registered seven saves in goal while Taylor Smith had a solid game at sweeper. Jordyn Good and Berenice Bryant also played well.
Rampage 1, Brookfield 1 â Sara Kelley scored a second-half goal to lead Newtown into a tie. Ally Modzelewski and Kate Bowen had strong games defensively while forwards Kristen Tanner and Ellen Ritzinger supplied the offensive pressure.
Boys U12
Nightmare 9, Middlebury 1 â Ryan Goodridge and Connor Collier scored two goals each while Kurt Nacewicz, Conor McManus, Andrew Meisel, Dayton Horvath and Chris Parker scored one apiece. Ethan Carotti, Michael Kearns, Joe Cappiello played solid defense.
Nightmare 2, Wilton 0 (State Cup) â Kurt Nacewicz scored both goals in the  second half for Newtown. John Gouveia, Chris Marks and Andrew Domingos played well on defense. Jason Kostecki had a strong game in goal.
Nightmare 8, Watertown 0 â Andrew Meisel scored three goals and Andrew Domingos, Ryan Goodridge, Kurt Nacewicz, Dayton Horvath, Connor Collier added solo goals to lead the Nightmare. Connor Collier had 3 assists in the game. Dan Kowarick and Dana Ress played well for Newtown.
Girls U12
Hurricanes 6, Farmington 0 (State Cup) â The Hurricanes blew away Farmington with four first half goals, and coasted to a 6-0 win. Colleen Thornberg ignited the offense with a long goal, followed by two scores by Gena Scheuerell, and another long goal from Adelle Cerrata. Second half had goals by Megan Hansen, and Nora Lyn Shimko, and solid play by Emily Weber and Sarah Shannon, limited Farmington to a single shot on goal.
Hurricanes 3, Brookfield 0 â Colleen Thornberg and Mary Bloshuk had unassisted first half goals, and Kasey Schulz dominated play in the second half, capping off the scoring by beating three defenders and the goalie with a perfect far post shot. Belle Hydockâs strong defense, with Jenn Brewer and Cassie David in goal insured the shutout.
Samba U13
Samba 5, Cheshire 1 (State Cup) â The Sambas began their Snickers State Cup tournament competition, with a convincing 5-1 win over Cheshire in which five different players scored. Brett Lehner, Mat DeBrantes and Sean Weir once again anchored a steadfast defense that enabled the Samba midfield, lead by Mike Vontobel to control the game. Anthony Florez, Paul Andras, Justin Miller, James Cersonsky and Patrick Houston all scored. Danny Smith and Kyle Dinicola shared time tending the Samba net.
Boys U14

The Storm 3, Torrington 3 â Matt Norris, Nick Sando and Billy McCann scored goals as The Storm rallied from a 1-0 deficit to earn the draw. McCann also provided an assist. Justin Carotti and goaltender Luke Powers anchored the defense while Matt Boland and Tyler Bigham had strong performances.
Girls U14
Watertown 7, Nitros 4 â The Nitros took charge with three goals in the first half and added one more goal in the second half before Watertown opened up with seven goals in the second half. Erica Vacaro led the offensive charge with two goals while Jen Greenwood and Allison Bull scored a goal apiece.
Girls U16
Newtown 1, Northwest 1 â Northwest took the lead just seconds before the end of the first half with a long shot just over the goalieâs fingertips. The second half was also evenly played and a penalty kick by Elyssa Samsel proved to be the tying goal. Solid defensive efforts from Emily Fields and Megan Rawson, and good offensive work from Rachel Eastman, Rose Jackman and Kaitlyn Ferguson anchored Newtownâs game.
