Supporting Our Future
Supporting Our Future
To the Editor:
Upon reading âTaxes Unfair to People Without Childrenâ by Kathy Pinto, I was forced to write. Ms Pinto states that she is âquite sick and tired of paying for your kidsâ education. Well, I, along with any person who is aware that one of the founding principles of our country is a free education for all, am quite sick of reading your anti-education letters. Did you go to school, Ms Pinto? Did any of âthose of you who do not have childrenâ go to school? Who paid for your education? Itâs not always about you. Itâs not always about right now. Sometimes it is about the future and by supporting education we are supporting our future.
In addition you wrote that we âshould not have to pay for anything but education. Period.â You believe that all âextracurricular activitiesâ should be pay as you go. It is abundantly clear that you have no idea what education is. According to you art is not part of education, nor music, drama, and sports. How would you feel about the students who could not afford these endeavors?
Newtown is a place many people move to raise their children. Itâs a great town, but itâs not for everyone. Some people should move.
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Caffrey
