SOUTHBURY â On Tuesday, May 20, Brownstein Jewish Family Services of the Federation: Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut is co-sponsoring a conference geared for seniors and their caregivers. In conjunction with the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA), âSingle Life Management in Your Later Yearsâ will feature four speakers, lunch, and plenty of time for questions from the audience.
The event runs from 10 am until 3 pm and the suggested donation is $5, which includes lunch. Registration begins at 9:30. This conference will take place in the social hall at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North.
Conference organizers are hoping to attract single, widowed or divorced people who are now living alone and need some camaraderie as well as help in specific areas. Married people will also find the topics useful, as will their caregivers or adult children.
Each 45-minute presentation will be followed by a 15-minute question and answer period. Attorney Mark Dost will kickoff the conference at 10 am with a presentation on âMedicaid and Long Term Planning.â At 11, Sara Manning of WCAAA will speak on âIdentity Theft.â
Following lunch and a break at noon, Barbara Chase of Connecticut Community Care, Inc will discuss âMoney Managementâ at 1 pm. The final panelist will be Jeannette Mitrukiewicz, licensed clinical social worker from the Waterbury Hospital Geropsychiatry Department, who will discuss âAnxiety â How to Avoid It and Deal With It.â
