ESPN’s Kenny Mayne To Speak At

Children’s Community School Benefit

WATERBURY — Kenny Mayne, anchor/reporter with ESPN, will be the keynote speaker at the 2003 Children’s Community School Annual Fundraising Dinner on May 20 at Villa Rosa of the Pontelandolfo Club in Waterbury. Mr Mayne is known for his offbeat style, dry humor, and unique sayings (“thanks for having electricity”) and home run calls (“I am amused by the simplicity of this game!”). He currently provides features to SportsCenter and “The Mayne Event” segments to Sunday NFL Countdown and hosts ESPN’s horse racing coverage.

The reception begins at 6 pm with dinner being served at 6:45 pm. Tickets to this event are $40 per person. Along with the dinner will be a silent auction with donated items to bid on, such as UConn items, overnight stay at The Westport Inn, Dinner at Diorio’s, ESPN sports clothing, Dare to Dream book signed by Jim Calhoun, Wine & Lottery Basket, and numerous other gift certificates from area businesses.

For 31 years Children’s Community School has proven that by creating a positive environment where a child feels affirmed and supported in academic pursuits and personal growth, great strides are possible. Small class size, individual attention to each student, special qualified personnel and on-site counseling combine to create this environment at CCS. Children, with the support of their parents, are encouraged to develop a positive self-image and self-motivation. They are supported in their search for emotional stability and they are strengthened in their quest for academic growth.

For information, reservations, or to donate items for the silent auction, call Tina, Mary, or Pat at 203-575-0659.
