A Haircut For Locks Of Love
A Haircut For Locks Of Love
Jessica Amante, 6, and her sister, Chloe, 4, donated ten inches of their hair to Locks of Love of Florida, a charity that makes hair prostheses for financially disadvantaged children ââ mostly girls ââ under the age of 18 with medical hair loss.
âThe girls were so excited and proud to be donating their hair,â said their mother, Joannne Amante of Clapboard Ridge Road in Sandy Hook. âThey want to meet the person that receives their hair, although that is not possible.â
The majority of all hair donations to Locks of Love come from children who want to help other children. It takes about ten to 15 ponytails, ten inches long or longer, to make one hairpiece. Each hairpiece is custom made and vacuum-fitted.
The girls had their haircut on April 15 by Terri at the Greg & Tony Salon in Westport. The salon offers free haircuts for anyone wishing to donate their hair to the organization. Call the salon at 203-266-6839 or Locks of Love 561-963-1677 for more information.
