*Woodbury Ski & Racquet Area has released the lineup, to date, of the first Rock nâ Reggae Festival it will be hosting this year. The ski area on Route 47 will be doing the two-day festival thing this year, with the 28th Annual Woodbury Rock nâ Reggae event scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11. On the band list right now are THE ITALS, RAS ABEL, LEXAY and BLACK REBELS. Additional artists are yet to be announced.
Gates open at 11 am, and the music will be ongoing from noon to 7 pm both days. Tickets purchased before May 20 are $10 for both days. After May 20, the price doubles; tickets will be sold at the gate. Coolers will be allowed into the park, at a cost of $10 each (the park is calling that its âclean up feeâ). Parking is free, however. The festival will include arts and crafts from all over the world, Jamaican and Caribbean-themed food and drink, and use of the parkâs inline, skateboard and bike park. For tickets or additional information, call 263-2203.
In July, Woodbury Ski Area will host another two-day festival, the Alternative Rock nâ Skate Jam Fest, July 15-16.
*A reminder that SOL DOG is in the area this weekend and next. This Friday the band is at The Avenue Café in the Black Rock section of Fairfield, and Saturday night Rev and the boys are back in Danbury, at Classic Rock Brew Pub (literally just off the Danbury Airport runway). Next Saturday â thatâs May 20, for those of you who are calendar date challenged â the guys are over at The Frog Pond in Stratford. Want more info about the band? They have seized control of their Web page. Itâs being worked on, but can be checked on at www.soldog.com (thatâs one of those ones that is so easy you donât even have to write it down!).
Until next week, Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
