NEW MILFORD â TheatreWorks is seeking versatile, uninhibited actor/singers for its upcoming production of the musical Cabaret, by John Kander, Fred Ebb and Joe Masteroff.
Set in a sleazy Berlin nightclub just before Hitlerâs rise to power, the breathtaking revival reveals the decadent complacency of Nazi-infested Berlin. Under the direction of Braford Blake, the TheatreWorks Cabaret promises to be a gritty and insidiously decadent production of a Broadway classic.
A minimum of 16 actors are needed. Some roles require dancing while some roles require only minimal singing. Actors who play musical instruments a real plus. Age range for a majority of the roles is 20 to 40, with one man and one women 50 or older needed.
Come prepared with a representative song. An accompanist will be provided, but actors without sheet music will not be seen.
Be prepared to dance unless auditioning for Fraulein Schneider, Herr Schultz, Cliff or Ernst. Choreography will be graphically explicit.
The auditions will be held at TheatreWorks from 7 pm to 9 pm on Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 23. All roles are available.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in June and the show will run July 21 through August 19. Actors and directors at TheatreWorks are all volunteers; no pay is given.
