Evelyn Ann (Donlon) Pennington, 85, of Wake Forest, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2023.

The daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Garrett) Donlon, Evelyn was born on August 7, 1937, in Bridgeport, Conn. She grew up in Newtown and Southbury, Connecticut and raised her family in Newtown and worked as an emergency dispatcher for Heritage Village before moving to Corolla, N.C., then to Sebastian, Fla. Upon the passing of her husband, Alan Pennington, she moved to her daughter’s home in Wake Forest, N.C. She loved her family, reading books, sports, being on or near the water and being sassy.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Shelley Randall (husband Gene) Leone of Wake Forest, N.C.; son Wallace (Dee) Randall (wife Galina) of Tiburon, Calif., and her grandchildren, Brett Leone, Derek Randall, Megan (husband Kim) Crea, Courtney (husband Scott) Graves, Briana (Breezy) Grenier and great granddaughter, Lexi Crea. She is also survived by her sister Nancy (Donlon) Barna, and missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, loving extended family and her pup companions, Micki and Gigi.

Preceding her in passing was her brother James Donlon, daughter Nancy Grenier and son-in-law Serge Grenier, grandson Stephen Randall and her brother-in-law John (Bob) Barna.

A service will be held graveside at Saint Rose Cemetery, Sandy Hook, Conn. on Saturday, May 13, at 2 pm.
