USPS Rate Increase Begins May 11
The cost of mailing a first class letter will go up from 42 cents to 44 cents beginning Monday, May 11, according to the United States Postal Service. Prices for standard mail, parcel post, periodicals, and extra services will increase, as well. Forever Stamps, purchased at the current price, can be used to mail a one-ounce letter with no additional postage. These nondenominational stamps are available for purchase at post office facilities, many grocery stores, or online at shop.usps.com.
As of May 11, a one-ounce first class letter will cost 44 cents to mail; large envelopes will cost 88 cents. Parcels will be $1.22 for the first ounce and 17 cents for each additional ounce. Postcards will increase to 28 cents , stamped cards to 31 cents, and stamped envelopes to 54 cents.
