Two Charges
Police said that while monitoring motorists for seatbelt compliance near Edmond Town Hall about 9:30 am April 30, they spotted motorist Brian Marshall, 37, of New Milford driving a vehicle without wearing his seatbelt, so they stopped Marshall to investigate.
Police said they charged Marshall with failure to wear a seatbelt and also with driving with a suspended license.
Marshall posted $100 bail on the license violation and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on that charge on May 12, according to police.
Keys Found
Midday on May 3, a set of keys was found in the roadway near 23 Charter Ridge Drive.
Police said that that the set of keys contains a key and fob for a Toyota vehicle. Also, it contains a small plastic facsimile of a New York State marker plate bearing the legend #1 DAD.
Police are holding the keys for safekeeping. The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.
Underage Driver
About 7:46 pm on May 2, police went to 9 Clearview Drive in response to a one-vehicle accident which had occurred there.
Police said that a boy who is under age 16 had been driving a 1990 Volvo 740 station wagon, which is owned by a Sandy Hook resident, westward on Clearview Drive near its northern intersection with Toddy Hill Road, when the vehicle went off the left side of the street, displaced some rocks and some soil, after which it struck a tree.
The Volvo continued traveling and then struck a group of trees, police said. Ambulance volunteers transported the boy to Danbury Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters went to the accident.
Police declined to disclose the boyâs identity because he is a juvenile, under the legal minimum driving age of 16, and charges may be filed against him.

Sandy Hook Impact
A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Walnut Tree Hill Road about 5:38 pm April 29.
Motorist Justin DeGrazia, 22, of Bethel, who was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta sedan westward on Church Hill Road, was passing a line of traffic on the right, police said.
At that time, motorist Patrick Mulski, 43, of 11 Pole Bridge Road, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry sedan southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road, stopped at the intersection.
Police said Mulski told them that the driver of a noncontact vehicle waved him on to enter the intersection, so Mulski did so. The Volkswagen and the Toyota then collided.
 There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned DeGrazia for passing on the right.
Sedan Vs Deer
Motorist Wesley Hunter, 54, of Bridgeport was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry westward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Secor Lane, about 4:21 am April 27, when a deer ran onto the street and collided with the auto, police said. The deer then ran back into the woods. Hunter was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Altercation
At about 3:50 pm on April 30, state police investigated an altercation between two unidentified females at the commuter parking lot located at the intersection of Hawleyville Road and Barnabas Road, near Exit 9 of Interstate 84.
Neither of the females was injured and neither wanted to pursue criminal charges against the other, state police said.
Windshield
State police report that trucker David J. Lapman, Jr, 41, of Watertown, was driving a 2007 International Navistar 4400 box truck westward on Interstate 84, just east of Exit 11, about 8:10 am May 1, when some type of object struck and cracked the truckâs windshield.
Neither Lapman nor a passenger were injured, state police said.
House Burglary
Police said they are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Currituck Road home in the area near Trumbull Drive. Police said the illegal entry occurred sometime on May 4. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact investigating Officer Bart Lorancaitis at 426-5841.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his/her arrest, an unidentified teenager turned him/herself in at the police station on the afternoon of May 4, and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and with possession of alcohol by a minor.
Police said that the youth had not responded to an alcohol violation which was issued on August 25, 2008, in connection with a party at a Grand Place residence.
That party had resulted in police issuing alcohol violations to 17 underage people. An anonymous caller had informed police that underage drinking was underway at the property, so they sent several officers there to investigate.
After processing the rearrest on May 4, police released the youth on $136 bail for a May 15 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. State law conceals the identities of âyouthful offenders,â or people who are age 16 or 17 at the time that they are charged with offenses.
Simple Trespassing
About 3:34 am on May 2, a Fairfield Hills security staff member called police to report some trespassers at the campus.
Police said they located a vehicle that had gone to a secluded area of the campus and investigated, issuing infraction tickets for simple trespassing to its four occupants. They are Melissa Turner, 25, of Stratford; Cheyne Brannigen, 26, of Stratford; Daniel Cunningham, 28, of Bridgeport, and Sarah DeFelice, 19, of Ansonia, police said. The tickets, which carry a $92 fine, are appealable in court.
Window Damage
Sometime between 9:30 pm on April 30, and 6 am on May 1, someone damaged a window on a storage shed at Dickinson Park on Elm Drive, police report. The damage is estimated at $200. Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of who damaged the window to contact them at 426-5841.
Super Stop & Shop
Police report an apparent incident of attempted shoplifting at the Super Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street about 2:38 pm April 30.
Two adults attempted to illegally remove a shopping cart filled with baby formula from the store, but were stopped by store security staff and prevented from doing so, police said.
Police categorized the incident as a criminal attempt to commit larceny.
Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the vehicle in which the pair drove away from the store to contact Officer Steven Borges at the police station.
BMW Off Road
Police responded to a report of a one-car accident about 1 am on May 1 on Toddy Hill Road, just south of its intersection with Marlin Road.
Police said motorist Bradley Andresen, 22, of 2 Trout Brook Circle was driving a 1988 BMW 325-I coupe northward on Toddy Hill Road, when while negotiating a curve in the road, he lost control of the vehicle, went onto the right road shoulder, hit an embankment, spun around and then struck some rocks. Andresen was not injured, police report.
Police issued him a written warning for making an improper turn.
Intersection Crash
About 1:45 pm May 6, motorist Noel Nieves, 54, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Express van, was waiting at a red traffic signal on southbound South Main Street at its intersection with Meadowbrook Road, police report.
Southbound motorist Esmeraldo Alves Filho, 44, of Danbury, who was driving a 2009 Honda CRV, stopped and was waiting behind the Chevrolet, police said.
At that time, a tractor-trailer truck was making a left turn from eastbound Meadowbrook Road onto northbound South Main Street, so Nieves backed up the Chevrolet to give the trucker more space to make the turn, police said.
But in backing up, the Chevrolet backed into the front end of the Honda, police said. There were no injuries.
Police said Nieves performed unsafe backing. Also, police charged Nieves with driving while under suspension. Nieves posted $50 bail for a May 20 court appearance.
