Thanks From Iraq

To the Editor:

I would like to thank the Newtown Community for remembering and thinking about me during the past three deployments I have served in Iraq with the 94th Engineer Battalion. Thank you so much for your support, thoughts, prayers, and care packages.

There are several people and groups I would personally like to thank for sending care packages for me to share with my fellow soldiers in my unit: the Newtown Dunkin’ Donuts, they sent a case of their awesome coffee; the Dodgingtown Market; the Lions Club; the Newtown Woman’s Club; the students of Hawley School for their many letters; Christ the King Lutheran Church; the Newtown Masonic Lodge; and the many friends of my family.

These wonderful people sent many items such as books, movies, music, toiletries, homemade goodies, snacks, coffee and many other great things that made my and the other soldiers time away from our families much easier.

Again, thank you all.

Very respectfully,

Sgt William Mattegat
