Swimmer Gnerre Will Attend Richmond
Dana Gnerre, senior at Newtown High School, and a member of the Wilton Y Wahoos Swim Team, has been recruited to compete at the Division I level and will attend the University of Richmond in the fall.
Swimming for the high school swim team her freshman year, Gnerre broke three school records, was an All-State honoree and came in 13th at the State Open. Gnerre also was awarded the MVP award at the South-West Conference Championships. She has been a USA Swimming Academic All American (3.5 GPA or above and Sectional Qualifier) for the past three years and a Top-16 Scholar Athlete in Connecticut.
At the YMCA Short Course Swimming and Diving Championships in Ft Lauderdale, Florida April 6-9, every race Gnerre swam was an individual best time. She anchored the 200 freestyle relay team, splitting a 24.00 to help the Wahoos place 6th. Gnerre also anchored the 400 medley relay, for her final swim as a Wahoo, with a split of 52.97.
