NFA Project A Success
NFA Project A Success
To the Editor:
We want thank all those who participated in making the Newtown Forest Association Nettleton West Street Restoration Project as success.
A red maple tree was planted in honor of our good neighbor, Howard Bowles. He tirelessly looked after The Nettleton Preserve as if it were his own, mowing fields and clearing trails. The dayâs activities included caring for planted trees and shrubs, removing invasive species, clearing trails of debris, and restoring the stream banks on West Street.
The Newtown Forest Association oversees more than 80 parcels and over 1,000 acres of protected open space here in Newtown. Our mission is to maintain the health of these properties throughout Newtown with help from neighboring property owners, volunteers, and the local scouting community.
Special thanks to Bobbie Bowles, Boy Scout Troop 270, Mark Benedict, Marc Boland, Mike Toll, The Lubinskys, The Fitzsimons, Bart Smith, Coke Cramer, Guy Peterson, Cara-Leigh Wilson, Ed Kelleher, Dan Dalton, and our new caretaker Steve Maskel.
Warm and sunny regards,
Bob Eckenrode
