Police Plan Seatbelt

Enforcement Project

Police Chief Michael Kehoe said this week Newtown police will be working with police from four other towns later this month in a regional seatbelt enforcement project targeted at motorists who do not wear the safety devices.

Police from all five towns will spend one day in each of the towns enforcing the state’s mandatory seatbelt use law, the police chief said.

The project will be staffed by police from Newtown, Redding, Bethel, Brookfield, and Ridgefield.

The seatbelt enforcement schedule will be announced soon, the police chief said.
