U8

Tornadoes 5, Starburst 3: Mary Celentano scored twice and Erin Walsh played exceptional defense as the Tornadoes outpaced the Starburst. Team Tornado had contributing goals from Lindsay Merrifield, Elizabeth Salley and Kristen Cirone. Merije DeWit and Sage Karp tallied two scores for the Starburst squad and Jenna Gonski, Emma DaSilva and Alexis Fortugno played exceptional, as well.

U10

Extreme Mustangs 8, Dynamite 3: Bella Jiminez led the Mustangs scoring with three goals, while Megan Goyda and Grace Corcoran added two apiece and Jillian Pieretti netted a solo goal. The Dynamites were led by a strong offensive coverage by Lauren Russo who scored two goals. Cathy Hyeon played her midfield position extremely well and worked with her teammates to defend the Dynamite’s goal, while Lucy Draper had a great block in her defensive position and is learning the skills needed to succeed there.

Wolverines 1, Animals 2: The Wolverines Zoe Freedman scored with an assist by Sarah MacMullan. An intense offense was led by Katelyn Henchcliffe with persistent defense played by Sophia Albano. For the Animals, MacKenzie Machiarulo and Janyce Toth combined for six saves in goal. And Taylor Pare and Allie Indelicato scored the goals.

Underdogs 5, American Eagles 0: Lauren Cirone started her season with the Underdogs this week, scoring two goals, assisted by Meghan Nahmias. Caroline Condon’s two additional goals were assisted by the efforts of Natalie Shaker and Jordan Williams whom both played an outstanding passing offensive game. Haley Taylor, who was unstoppable both defensively and offensively, scored the final goal for the Underdogs. For the American Eagles, Rachel Tomasino and Lizzie Delp made several outstanding saves in goal.  Caroline Viselli anchored the defense with her strong play, and Kelly Daly and Kaitlyn McNichols played tirelessly on both ends of the field.

Newtown Breeze 5, Fairfield 0: The Newtown Breeze recorded its second straight shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over Fairfield. Goalkeepers Natalie Kelchner and Rylee Mulligan kept Fairfield scoreless, while Mulligan, Kelchner, Cassidy Kortze, Jessica Maturo and Marcella Daily each netted a goal for the win. Savannah Mather and Jacklin Gouveia played well throughout the game.

U14

Chatterboxes 6, Cone Heads 2: The Chatterboxes were led by Emily Grimes with four goals and a assist and Meghan Grimes with one goal and two assists. Alex Dittrich had a goal, while Jamie Duncan and Kayla Sippin each had an assist. Natalie Zimmerman showed her skill on defense. Deft ball handling skills by Hannah Grant and Brianna Baranoski helped the cause. Alexis Jacuzzi and Hanna Delia scored the goals for  the Cone Heads. Jacqueline Mooney was outstanding in goal. Joanelle Tran and Megan Olszewski made great contributions moving the ball forward on offense. Katherine McHugh played a strong midfield game.

Twisters 4, Team 2 2: For the Twisters, Kerry Scallon scored two goals with one goal each scored by Caitlin Filiato and Sinead Flanagan. Strong midfield was played by Chloe Blackman with persistent defense by Taylor Clomiro. For Team 2, goals were scored by Kate Laaksonen and Courtney Datin. Good games were played by Chelsea Piccirillo, Jessica Principi, Amanda Albanese and Hailey Conrad.

Bearcats 0, Rockets 0: The goaltenders for both teams were the standouts in this scoreless contest. For the Rockets Jess Coughlin, Kenzie Casey, Hannah Booth and Emily Jerris held fast against consistent pressure from the Bearcat’s attack. For the Bearcats, Lizzie Wojcik, Alessandra Lalli, Carly Grossano and Katerina Ringes anchored an unbeatable back line and goal-tending unit.

Boys

U8

Black Hawks 3, Sky Hawks 2: The Sky Hawks were as hot as the day’s heat. After being down by one goal early in the game, the play of Justin Jarvis, Brandon Lutz, Miles Martiska and Thomas Armstrong produced two goals. James Belden, Steven Cheh controlled the midfield and aided the offense. The efforts of Ryan Farrell, Ethan Correia, Andrew Tomasino, Ethan Braddock and Christopher Shaker controlled the attacks of the Black Hawks. For the Black Hawks, the offense was led by Kyle Duval who scored two goals, and Jack McDermott who scored one goal, and by Luke Fischer with strong midfield support. Cory Furrier, Devin Johnson, and Hunter Kirkman provided a solid defense and made some great saves in goal.

U10

Predators 4, Team Six 3: Team Six put up a tough fight, with Kevin Arther playing through an illness and scoring the team’s three goals. Offensively Chad Azzarito had two shots on goal as did Ryan Escoda, Casper De Wit had an assist and one shot on goal. Thomas Majilinger and Austin Smith were stout on defense. Chad Azzarito had two great saves in goal, one of which was a save during a penalty kick. Christopher Russo, David Usher and Michael Arther had good overall play.

Easton 2, Net Rippers 0: After a successful first half lead by middies Evan Eggleston, Josh and Nick Harper, and wicked good defense by Hunter Procaccini, the Easton team proved too tough to handle second half, despite extraordinary goalie Adam Bergeron’s efforts. Matt Booch-Bucci and Matt Gerbo had great games, and the Net Rippers are quickly excelling on the field.

Net Rippers 3, New Canaan 1: Brendan O’Hara was a force in the goal, allowing Adam Bergeron and Silas Decker to show their massive skills outside the box. Hunter Procaccini led the defense, with Mark Hall and Andy Greenwood’s key moves propelling Matt Gerbo’s hat-trick. The deal wouldn’t have been sealed without the strength Ryan Brello and goalie Josh Harper owning the box second half.

U12

Newtown Strikers 4, Stamford Hurricanes 1, Newtown won its first league game behind the strong defensive efforts of John Carlson, Alex Gerbo and Paul O’Leary. Newtown’s Liam McNichols gave the Strikers the early lead with a goal in the first half. Albert Dean headed the ball into the net off of a cross from Josh Houle to make the score 2-0. Stamford came back in the second half with a goal on a free kick, but Blake Jarvis sealed the win with two more Newtown goals late in the game.

U14

A.C. Falcons 1, Hot Pockets 6: Scoring for the A.C. Falcons was Lucas LaDestro. Kevin Flannigan and Kyle Watkins did a great job in goal for the Falcons, Zach Weiland played strong defense, and Chris Rovelli was excellent on offense. Scoring for the Hot Pockets were Tim Kelly, Carter Nordman, Thomas Gavel, Josh Tuffy, and Brandon Rodriguez with two. Great teamwork overall by the Hot Pockets.

Phoenix 3 Team Roma 2: Tony Leonardi and Nick Klein both scored a goal for Team Roma. Joe Anastasi and Daniel Colucci were strong goalies and Zach Pollock played good defense in the defeat. Miguel Rodriguez, Mathew Wood, and Omar Rodriguez each scored a goal for Pheonix. Curtis Giles was a strong goalie. James Barry and Jeroen Schickendan played well in defense.
