Absentee Ballots Available
Absentee ballots are available for the municipal budget referendum to be held on Tuesday, May 18, from 6 am to 8 pm, at Newtown Middle School. Any qualified registered voter may vote by absentee ballot if unable to vote in person due to active service in the Armed Forces, absence from town during all hours of voting, illness, physical disability, religious tenets which forbid secular activity on the day of the referendum, or duties as a referendum official at a polling place other than your own during all hours of voting.
Applications are available at the town clerkâs office, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. An absentee ballot may be obtained by applying at the town clerkâs office in person or appointing a designee; contact the town clerkâs office for details, at 203-270-4210. Ballots can be returned in person to the town clerk by 4:30 pm Monday, May 17, 2010, or by mail or designee before the closing of the polls on referendum day, 8 pm, May 18.
Also, the town clerkâs office will have special hours on Saturday, May 15, from 9 am to noon, for the sole purpose of absentee ballot voting.Â
