Wine Tasting And Auction To Benefit Womenâs Center
DANBURY â The Womenâs Center of Danbury will hold its second annual âEssence of Wineâ auction and wine tasting fundraising event Friday, May 21, at the Lounsbury House in Ridgefield.
More than 25 wines will be available for sampling and purchase from all over the world â including some from vineyards in Oregon and California.
The event, held from 6 to 9 pm, will feature âdinner by the biteâ during a live and silent auction. Items available to the highest bidder include getaway packages, exquisite pieces from Craigâs Fine Jewelry, tee times, party packages, art items, and so much more.
Raffle tickets at $20 each are being sold in advance with a chance of winning the Grand Prize â a trip to Hilton Head, S.C. (including air fare and lodging â valued at $5,000), or First Prize â a compilation of gift certificates to regional restaurants (valued at $1,000).
Advanced registration is required as space is limited. Tickets, starting at $50, considered a donor, admit one to attend the event. Alternate levels of giving are friend at $125, patron at $250, sponsor at $500, and benefactor at $1,000 and above.
Last yearâs event raised nearly $50,000 for programs and services for the Womenâs Center, which services nearly 20,000 people in a 12-town area surrounding Danbury.
The entire proceeds from the event are put toward the programs and services the center provides including crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling services, advocacy, community education and training, and information and referrals.
The Womenâs Center of Danbury has been providing free and confidential services for 28 years. The focus of the programs offered seek to better the lives of women, men, and children in crisis or transition as a result of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crises.
Financial donations as well as auction items are still being accepted. To donate funds, goods, or services for the auction, or to purchase tickets, contact Kathy Roig at 731-5200 or Gina OâConnell at 746-7751.
