‘Survive The Drive’ May 13 At Danbury Hospital

DANBURY — Danbury Hospital’s Trauma Services and the Connecticut Valley Region Porsche Club of America will sponsor “Survive The Drive: Your Best Behind The Wheel” on Thursday, May 13, from 7 to 9 pm, in the John C. Creasy Center for Health Education Auditorium at Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Avenue.

Speaker and professional driving safety trainer Bob Green will highlight the hazards that all drivers, particularly youthful, novice drivers, face and strategies to prevent crashes. Mr Green takes a fresh look at the problems that has contributed to 2.2 million violent US highway fatalities in the last 50 years.

“This is certainly a health issue with no medical means of prevention,” says Mr Green, who cites that auto crashes result in three million emergency room visits per year.

What are the factors that could produce a better driver? According to Mr Green, deliberate and specific training as well as learning from forensic evidence and the procedures that produce skilled pilots, doctors, stockbrokers, electricians, and plumbers.

Mr Green is a senior instructor with the Skip Barber Racing School and an instructor trainer certified by the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA). He is a widely respected auto safety and racing instructor as well as a speaker on driving safety to adults and students in driver education programs. He has traveled internationally to share his unique perspectives and driving skills.

He presented “Survive The Drive” and the “Crashing is a Bummer” driver awareness programs to more than 35,000 high school juniors and seniors in the past several years. The Connecticut Valley Region, Porsche Club of America sponsors Mr Green as part of its community service to provide driver awareness programs to 15 Connecticut high schools. Mr Green also receives funding from Lime Rock Park.
