Newtown Lions Club Begins Annual Vintage Mustang Raffle
Newtown Lions Club Begins
 Annual Vintage Mustang Raffle
Newtown residents will once again see a vintage Ford Mustang convertible parked on Main Street across from Amaral Motors. The car is to be raffled by the Newtown Lionsâ Club in October. This yearâs car is a red 1965 convertible with a white top and red interior.
The annual Mustang raffle is the Lionsâ biggest fund raising project. Proceeds are used for a wide variety of community, state, and national programs and charities with a special focus on research to prevent blindness, juvenile diabetes, drug awareness programs, and assistance to senior citizens and the underprivileged.
Last yearâs raffle proceeds were used for the benefit of numerous community projects and programs including the Orchard Hill Park, Newtown Summer Flag, Newtown Meals on Wheels, Cyrenius Booth Library, Newtown Youth Services, Ability Beyond Disability, and many others. The Lions also contributed to national projects including diabetes awareness and the Lions Club International Fund.
The raffle drawing will be held October 16 at the Newtown Middle School. The winner need not be present at the drawing.
Tickets can be obtained from any Lions Club member or by calling Jon Christensen at 426-8990 or Kent Carpenter at 270-1560. They can also be purchased in Newtown at Amaral Motors, the Booth Library, Dodgingtown Garage, the Newtown General Store, the Newtown Car Wash, and Yankee Discount Liquors and at the Danbury Fair Mall in the optometry offices of Dr Wong in LensCrafters.
