Grace McNulty Irvin Garrett
Grace McNulty Irvin Garrett, 95, died peacefully on April 28 at Bethel Health Care Center.
Grace was born May 23, 1908, in Carnegie, Penn., the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie (McNulty) Irvin. She lived in the Pittsburgh, Penn., area for a number of years and also Richmond, Va. Grace moved from Richmond to Southbury in November, 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Garrett Christner and her husband Larry of Newtown; a son, Robert Garrett of Washington, Penn.; a granddaughter, Allison Christner Ibarra and her husband John of Miami, Fla.; a grandson, Jeffrey William Christner of Chicago, Ill.; four great-grandsons, Joseph Garrett of West Brownsville, Penn., Ryan John Ibarra, Tyler Steven Ibarra, and Matthew Robert Ibarra of Miami; a sister, Bobbie Jane Irvin Henry of Pittsburgh.; and her brother-in-law, Angelo Pennetti of Bridgeville, Penn; two nieces, Cheryl Pennetti Smith and Lynne Pennetti Suchoza of Bridgeville and their families; and a cousin, Charlotte McNulty Holiday of Vestavia Hills, Ala.
Her husband George Addison Garrett, brother Robert Wilson Irvin, Jr, stepmother Phoebe Alderson Irvin, and sisters Mary Irvin Shea and Ann Irvin Pennetti preceded her in death.
Grace graduated from Syracuse University and was a member of Chi Omega social sorority.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 22, at 4 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown. The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is in charge of arrangements.
