Gary Thomas Petersen, 67, of Pahrump, Nev., formerly of Bethel and Ridgefield, died on April 30 at his residence, as a result of complications due to diabetes and cardiovascular disease. He was the husband of Jacqueline (Devaney) Petersen.
Mr Petersen was born in Stamford, September 29, 1936, a son of Winfred (Collins) Petersen, of Pahrump, Nev., and the late Alfred P. Petersen.
In addition to his wife of 46 years and mother, he is survived by two sons, Brett Petersen of Newtown and Christopher Petersen of Danbury; a brother, Kevin Petersen and his wife Arlene of Stamford; a grandson Brian and granddaughter Rachel, as well as several nieces and nephews. A brother, Brian Petersen, predeceased him.
He was raised in Rowayton, attended Darien schools, and graduated from Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport School of Engineering. Mr Petersen was a US Army veteran.
He had been a resident of Old Sib Road, Ridgefield, from 1968 to 1988, coming from Stamford and Plumtree Heights, Bethel, from 1988 to 1998, when he moved to Pahrump, Nev. A products manager for Norco, Inc, of Ridgefield, he retired in 1998 after 37 years with the company.
Mr Petersen was an avid golfer and bingo player.
Funeral services took place May 5 in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment followed in St Maryâs Cemetery, Ridgefield.
