Two Fun Family Events!
The NYS Annual Talent Show is Friday, May 7. Tickets are $2 for children 12 and under and $5 for everyone else. Videos will once again be available at a cost of $15. Call NYS for tickets.
The Hat City Blues Band â Music, refreshments, dancing, door prizes and fun on Saturday, May 22, at the Fireside Inn at 8 pm. Tickets are $8 and are available at NYS. They will also be sold at the door.
High School PTSA Meeting
The next meeting will be on Thursday, June 8, at 8 am at Newtown High School. Eighth grade parents are especially encouraged to attend. Siblings are welcome!
Gail Smith Awards
The awards will be presented on Monday, May 24, at 7 pm at the C.H. Booth Library.
Outstanding Youth Awards
As part of the âCelebrate Youth Festival,â NYS will be presenting awards to young people from the community at a ceremony on Thursday, May 27, at 4 pm, at the C.H. Booth Library.
Attention High School and Middle School Students! Community service opportunities are still available. Please call for additional information.
Volunteers Needed! NYS will be moving soon and we are in need of much assistance. Anyone who can lend a hand in any way would be appreciated. This is also a great opportunity for community service! Call NYS if you would like to spend some time helping us.
Job Bank
Job Bank is a service available to residents in need of assistance with jobs such as yard work, snow removal, babysitting, help with parties, computers, office work, and more. Contact Erin at NYS with your job request and she can suggest a fee schedule appropriate for each job situation.

Moms Groups
Moms of Babies birth to 12 months: Tuesdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am.
Moms of Toddlers 1 year to 18 months: Thursdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am.
Moms of Multiple/Ongoing â Next meeting will be in May.

Parent Programs
âBut Itâs Only Beerâ¦â sponsored by NO SUDS, will tell you everything you need to know about alcohol and the law.
Hope and Support Group: If you are a parent with questions or concerns about your childâs possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are invited to attend the Hope and Support group. This group meets Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Parentsâ Corner. All are welcome.

Youth Programs
Cullens Nature Camp â There are a few openings for those finishing third through fifth grades. The dates are June 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, July 1, and 2. Time is 11:30 am to 1 pm. The cost is $50.
For those finishing kindergarten through second grade, there may be an additional session. It would run July 6â9 from 9:30 am to 11 am. The cost would be $30.
Super Sitters: Dates for the June session are going to be June 28â30 and July 1â2 from 1 to 2:30 pm. Fee is $40. Only a few spots remain. Call to register.
4H: Grades 5 and 6, Tuesdays, 3 to 4:30 pm. Meetings will be held at the Greenhouse.
HYSAB: Please call for the next HYSAB meeting.Â
MSYAB: Will meet on Monday, May 17 (please note change of date!), at 2:15 pm. We will be discussing spring activities.
NYCAAP: (Newtown Youth Creating AIDS Awareness for Peers) Call for meeting schedule.
