Beverly (Bosselait) Ligouri, age 85, of Southbury, beloved wife of the late Thomas Ligouri, passed away on May 4, at Danbury Hospital.

The daughter of Adelard and Theresa (Snow) Bosselait, Beverly was born April 9, 1936, in Bridgeport. She was a graduate of Central High School. She worked at Southern New England Telephone as a switchboard operator until she met her future husband. In 1964, she relocated with her family to Newtown where she resided for 41 years before moving to Heritage Village in Southbury. She helped her husband run Ligouri’s Texaco Station in Monroe, and also worked at Middle Gate cafeteria in Newtown.

Beverly was married to her beloved husband and best friend Tom for 50 years, before his passing in 2007. After his passing, she devoted her time to her family, volunteering at Southbury Training School Thrift Store, and being the Cluster Captain in Heritage Village.

Beverly loved to travel. If someone said “vacation,” she was the first to start making plans. She made friends wherever she went, and she loved cooking for them. On any given day she could be seen loading up her car with homemade pickles, ice box cake, giannetties, or deviled eggs to deliver. Her favorite toast was, “To family that are like friends, and to friends that are like family.”

Beverly was ageless. She had bounds of energy and was called the “Energizer bunny” by her friends. She shopped for Christmas presents all year round — her stocking stuffers were legendary. We are all going to miss her unique Christmas cards — she even had next year’s card planned!

Perhaps her greatest legacy is the love she had for her family. Her family was her sole purpose in life, and she devoted her life to making them happy. Beverly suffered the greatest loss a mother can have. She lost her son, Tommy, in a tragic car accident in 1982. Instead of letting this loss crush her, she took the helm and became stronger. She could always be seen in the stands watching every event anyone in the family had. She was there for softball games, go-cart races, awards, graduations, concerts, and any sport or celebration that she could go to. She never said “no” when it came to spending time with her family, and she always loved us “more.” She was a role model of what a perfect mother, sister, and grandmother should be.

Beverly always said that she wanted to live forever. She said that she did not want her obituary to read “died peacefully.” She said that she wanted us to write, “She died kicking and screaming.” After her short but intense illness, Beverly was ready to enter the next chapter in her life — her reunion with her husband and son.

Beverly is survived by her three children, Cheryl Moore and her husband, Karl, of Southington, Charlene Yacovelli of Oxford, and Del Ligouri and his wife, Tammi, of Newtown; her six grandchildren, Nicole (Dan) Gilbert and Kayla (Steve) Davenport, Ellen and Joseph Yacovelli, and Alicia and Izzy Ligouri; her great-grandchild, Carter Davenport; her beloved sister, Barbara Anzellotti, and her husband, Kevin, of Southbury; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, on Friday, May 21, from 5 to 7 pm. Interment will be on Saturday, May 22, at 11 am at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown.
