Supporting The Sciences

To the Editor:

As chairperson of this year’s Newtown Discovery Science Workshops, I’d like to thank our Newtown community for their generosity in volunteering to lead the workshops. Special thanks to Dunkin’ Donuts and Bagel Delight for donating food items.

As many of you know, Newtown Junior Women’s Club works in conjunction with the Newtown Board of Education to sponsor a morning of science and technology workshops free for Newtown students in kindergarten through fourth grade. This year we hosted over 200 students who enjoyed learning about everything from the physics behind marshmallow shooters to the chemistry of erupting volcanoes.

We are truly grateful for the community’s sincere investment in Newtown’s children!
