Students Charged With Theft Of Teacherâs NHS Keys
Police have arrested two Newtown High School students for allegedly stealing a teacherâs set of keys for the school, after which the youths had copies made of those keys, police said.
The youths did not use the copies of the keys to gain any illegal entry at the school, according to police.
After learning that police held warrants for their arrests the youths turned themselves over to police at the police station on May 2 and May 3. Police arrested each youth on a charge of sixth-degree larceny.
In March, school officials learned that students may have stolen a teacherâs set of keys and then had some key copies made before returning the original set, police said.
School officials informed School Resource Officer Jason Flynn of the matter, after which he investigated.
Following arrest processing, police released both students on promises to appear on May 16 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Because the youths are under age 18, their identities are shielded from public disclosure by state law.
