New Additions To Labor Day Parade Lineup

The Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee is excited about two additions to this year’s September 5 parade lineup. Along with the many favorites that they hope to see return, the Wells Fargo Bank has agreed to send its trademark horse team and stagecoach.

According to the Wells Fargo website, “Each coach used for parades is an authentic, Wells Fargo approved reproduction, pulled by a specially trained team of horses, guided by an experienced driver. Wells Fargo’s link with the six-horse stagecoach comes from Wells Fargo’s real history of using, owning, guarding, and operating them.”

In addition, parade viewers will be treated to a repeat display of the Nation’s Flag, a 45-foot by 90-foot American flag that will be marched down Main Street, and unfurled at various points along the way. Two large “sister” flags will accompany the Nation’s Flag, which was paraded down Newtown’s streets in 2001.

“We are happy to have these two attractions added to the parade,” said committee president Beth Caldwell.
