FOR MAY 16 CAPE COD GLASS CLUB TO OFFER LUNCHEON MEETING JUNE 3

Set 5/6 AVV/cd #738242

SANDWICH, MASS. — The Cape Cod Glass Club will end a successful eighth season with a luncheon meeting on Tuesday, June 3, at noon, at the Dan’l Webster Inn on Main Street. There will be a cash bar for drinks, and lunch will be served at 12:30.

The annual business meeting will follow the luncheon, as well as an informal auction of members and guests’ glass objects and books about glass that need a new home. Cards will be provided on which to write a short story, funny or otherwise, on how or why these can’t-live-without treasures were acquired.

Once again the club is looking forward to participating in the Sandwich Glass Museum’s Cape Cod Glass Show and Sale to be September 20–21. This is the second year for the show in the Skylight Room of the Corpus Christi Church in Sandwich.

Show dealers and visitors were impressed with the new venue, where this year more space will be available than last. Members volunteer to staff ticket tables, help dealers set up and pack out, and serve as booth sitters for dealers who require a break.

The Cape Cod Glass Club, founded in 2000, is a nonprofit chapter of the National American Glass Club dedicated to the study and appreciation of glass regardless of the type or period, with emphasis on American glass. The Cape Cod chapter meets monthly from October to December and from March to June. Activities include formal lectures, informal study sessions, and visits to museums and working glassmakers. The club’s ninth season will begin on Tuesday, October 7.

The club is open to new members. Membership is not limited to Cape Cod residents. For further information, contact membership chair Dorothy Schatz at 508-428-2141, or program chair Betsy Hewlett at 508-362-6875.
