Mattatuck Museum And Shakesperience Teaming Up
For Theater Camp
WATERBURY â Shakesperience Productions and the Mattatuck Museum will collaborate again this summer on summer theater arts program, in two sessions, for children ages 7 to 14.
Beginning July 11, from 9 am to 4 pm, children ages 11 through 14 will join Shakesperienceâs professional theater instructors for a week of theater games, acting and rehearsing in the museumâs beautiful Performing Arts Center.
Each day will begin with warm ups, activities and classes. After lunch, students will rehearse for a production until the dayâs end. Participants will end their week with a performance for family and friends.
Then beginning July 26, children ages 7 to 10 will be treated to their own week chock-full of theater. They follow a schedule similar to the first week, with an introduction to theater and acting games, afternoon rehearsals, and a final performance on Friday.
This year students who complete the first week will be invited to sign up for the second week where they will participate as assistant instructors and directors for a second theater immersion week.
Fee for the first-week workshop is $195, and fee for the second week is $150.
The professional staff of Shakesperience has provided educational programs for schools and other organizations throughout New England. They often partner with the Mattatuck Museum, where the Performing Arts Center provides the perfect setting for such productions. Students leave the program with a sense of accomplishment, increased self-esteem, and a strong foundation in theater and acting.
