Aldrich Museum Is Throwing A Gala In The Garden

RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will unveil The Cornish Family Sculpture Garden at “Gala in the Garden” on Saturday, May 21, at 7 pm.

“Gala in the Garden” will be the first public opening of the museum’s Cornish Family Sculpture Garden, endowed as a part of the museum’s recent $9 million renovation and expansion project. The single largest single fundraiser for The Aldrich, the gala will generate  funding for the annual operating budget, as well as museum education and cultural programming.

“We are thr illed to share [this] final piece of our renovation and expansion project with the public,” said Museum Director Harry Philbrick. “Our recent expansion has solidified our reputation as one of the nation’s finest contemporary art museums and our commitment to the exhibition of cutting-edge art.”

The museum will be honoring A. Peter Sallick, CEO and President of Waterworks, and Kathleen O’Grady, former chairperson of The Aldrich Board of Trustees, as this year’s recipients of the annual Larry Award, given to distinguished individuals for their service to and impact on the arts. Fine food, live entertainment, dancing and the museum’s summer exhibitions including “Contemporary Erotic Drawing,” will provide the dramatic backdrop for the event.

“Gala in the Garden” will feature a special cocktail reception beginning at 6:30 pm to honor sponsors and the evening’s honorees, followed by dinner in the museum’s Garden, and music and dancing into the wee hours.
