AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ARTS & LETTERS TO SHOW NEW MEMBERS, AWARD WINNERS

NEW YORK CITY — The American Academy of Arts and Letters announces its exhibition of paintings, sculpture, works on paper and photographs; architectural models and renderings; and original manuscripts by newly elected members and recipients of honors and awards. Works will be on view through June 15 at the academy galleries on historic Audubon Terrace.

Paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photographs, architectural models and renderings include works by newly elected members in Art: John Baldessari and Ursula von Rydingsvard; Gold Medal for Architecture, Richard Meier; and Architecture Award Winners James Carpenter, Neil Denari, Kenneth Frampton, Jim Jennings and Peter Zumthor.

Art Award Winners are Anna Conway, Llyn Foulkes, Mark Greenwold, Judith Linhares, Eric Holzman, Charles Long, Gordon Moor, Susan Smith and Marc Trujillo.

Art Purchases are Susanna Coffey, Bruce Davidson, Llyn Foulkes, Anna Hostvedt, Gordon Moore, David Moreno, Susan Smith, Andrew Spence, Trevor Winkfield and Robert Yasuda.

Manuscripts and personal statements are shown by newly elected members in Literature: Kwame Anthony Appiah, Robert A. Caro, Paul Muldoon, Stephen Greenblatt, Calvin Trillin and Joy Williams; and Gold Medal for History, Edmund S. Morgan.

Literature Award Winners are Madison Smartt Bell, Hayden Carruth, Dan Chiasson, Brian Doyle, Will Eno, Rikki Ducornet, Fanny Howe, Edith Grossman, Frances Hwang, Brad Kessler, John Lanchester, Richard Lange, Ben Marcus, Richard Nelson, Christopher Reid, Mona Simpson, Dana Spiotta, A.E. Stallings, Maxine Swann, William T, Vollman and John Edgar Wideman.
