Occupation: I am the assistant to the director of the Newtown Senior Center. I started in March of this year. I love it.
Family: My son, Brian, my daughters Carolyn and Lori, and three grandchildren, Darren, Eric, and Courtney. Lori and Brian live in Newtown and Carolyn lives in Danbury.
Pets: I have a cat, Cuddles. He used to belong to Lori, but she was allergic, so I adopted him.
How long have you lived in Newtown? I have lived here 37 years.
What do you like to do in your free time? Iâm in the bell choir at Newtown Congregational Church. Iâm the co-director with Carole Andrews. Iâm also co-chairperson of the music committee at the church with Sharon Goodkowski and I volunteer at the church thrift store, The Cornerstone. I collect all kinds of items related to Tweety Bird, too. Anytime I see anything, like a key chain or whatever with Tweety Bird, I have to pick it up. I also really like to read.
Do you have a favorite book? Right now Iâm reading Seven Hundred Sundays by Billy Crystal. My absolute favorite book, though, is Tuesdays With Morrie. I like books about people that give a good message.
Do you have a favorite type of music? I just love all music, but mostly classical or new age. My favorite piece of music is Canon in D by Pachabel.
Where do you like to vacation? On Cape Cod. I like all of it, all the way up the coast. I like anywhere where there is water and lighthouses.
What is the best thing about Newtown? The countrylike surroundings. I love the brooks and lakes on the back roads. And the people are so friendly here.
If you could spend a day with anyone, who would that be? My mother. She passed away about eight years ago. I would just like to have had more time with her. She was a good person and she taught me how to treat people with respect.
Do you keep anything interesting in your purse? I keep worry stones in my purse. They keep me calm. Iâve gotten them in various places. They have to feel right when you pick them up.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Treat others as you would like to be treated, with respect. I think that is so important.
