Nearly $1,000 was raised, Allison and Neha told SHP Co-Founders and Managing Directors Mark Barden and Nicole Hockley, after the Trumbull students participated in "Change For Change," a competitive fundraiser between the high school's classes in March. After a walkout and assembly were held at their school on March 14, to mark the one-month anniversary of the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., the fundraiser was launched.
Students were invited to donate change and in "approximately a week and a half," according to Neha, students raised the funds that were then donated to Sandy Hook Promise.
Nicole Hockley and Mark Barden, co-founders and managing directors of Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), received a donation from Allison Hazen, second from right, and Neha Rahalkar, right, Trumbull High School students, on April 23.
