‘Digging Up The Past’ At Newtown Historical Society’s May Open House
Newtown Historical Society will host its May Open House on Sunday, May 5, from noon to 4 pm, at The Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main Street.
This month’s Open House will feature guest presenter Dave Wise.
A self-described metal detector hobbyist and enthusiast, Wise will share his passion for historical excavation with open house guests. Curtiss House visitors will enjoy a “show-and-tell” of artifacts that he has uncovered over the years, and how they work together to tell an often unknown — and likely surprising — story of early American life.
Refreshments will be served.
Newtown Historical Society holds monthly open house events September to May, offering a variety of guest speakers and programs that support its mission to educate and celebrate American history in the community.
The events are free to the public, but donations are always welcomed.
