The fifth Sunday of Easter will be celebrated at the 10:30 am service on May 13. Mothers’ day also will be observed at this service. The special choir anthem will be “Consider the Lilies.” On the calendar for the week is a meeting of the social ministry committee after the service and a “Ladies’ Night Out” for the LWML group on Wednesday at 7:30 pm. On Thursday the Confirmation II class will meet at 7 pm, and the Church Council will gather at 8 pm. The Friday Bible group meets at 12:30 pm. On Saturday there will be a slide presentation on “An Evening in Malta” at 7:30 pm, sponsored by the LAFS Fellowship Group.

Youth members Kara Kunst and Travis Finlayson will give the sermon Sunday at the 10 am All-Church Youth service. Other young people will conduct the rest of the service with the assistance of the Rev Steven Gordon, senior minister. “A Gathering” with Carl Lindquist will give the Children’s Message, “Yahweh,” in word and song. Chris Benson will play a trumpet solo and Kristin Ryan will sing “Children of Eve.” Sunday also will be Church World Service Blanket Day to provide blankets to the victims of natural disasters and to agencies working with the homeless and needy. There will be cards available with each donation of $5. The cards can be sent to whomever one wishes to honor. The Music Committee will meet briefly Sunday following the worship service in the Sanctuary. Monday evening Bible study continues at 7:30 pm in the church house. Wednesday morning Bible study with Rev Gordon continues at 8:30 am in the sanctuary. Men’s Fellowship will meet at 7 pm in the church house on the third Sunday instead of the second Sunday. May 20 guest speaker Les Burroughs will present slides of his trip to Africa. On June 24 there will be an outing to a Blue Fish game in Bridgeport. Registration forms for the Ecumenical Vacation Church School for the week of August 13 will be available in the church offices May 14.
