Melissa Eigen, a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School, was selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association Athlete of the Year during the athletic banquet of SUNY at Stony Brook. Eigen, a senior, was also was one of two athletes on the Stony Brook women’s soccer team to receive the Year 2000 Academic Achievement Award.

Pete Dutchick, a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, was a recent ECAC_(Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference) and UCAA (Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association) Division III Player of the Week for the Skidmore College baseball team. Dutchick, a sophomore second baseman, was 5-for-7 in a doubleheader split with Rensselaer (including a 3-of-4, 2 RBI performance in the win).
