Tickets For Annual BowlFest Now On Sale

BROOKFIELD —  Tickets for Brookfield Craft Center’s seventh annual “BowlFest” event are now on sale. The popular fundraiser and art auction which celebrates “craft and community,” according to Craft Center Executive Director Jack Russell, will be held this year on Sunday, June 1, from 1 to 4 pm.

Tickets are $50 per person. For more information call 775-4526 or visit BrookfieldCraftCenter.org.

In addition to great food and wines, live music and a lively silent auction, attendees get to choose and take home a handmade ceramic, glass or wood bowl from the over 200 made by students, faculty and friends of the national profile, not-for-profit school and gallery founded in 1954 to promote and preserve the skills and values of fine craftsmanship, creativity and good design.

Also this year, BowlFest will honor long-time Brookfield resident Dee Wagner who until her retirement was the center’s popular registrar and “front desk maven” for more than three decades. Ms Wagner retired from the craft center last year after having served the non-profit organization longer than any other employee in its history.

The event will additionally recognize Kristin Muller, the center’s education director, who first created BowlFest in 2002 and managed the next six of the festive annual events. Ms. Muller is a resident of Naugatuck, and a nationally-celebrated ceramic artist, author and teacher.

Brookfield Craft Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit school and gallery for fine craftsmanship. Its historic campus is composed of six buildings along the Still River. The school offers classes and workshops for adults and teens in four sessions, winter, spring, summer and fall.

Over 1,400 people come each year for instruction in blacksmithing, ceramics, decorative arts, design and drawing, fiber and weaving, glass working, metalsmithing, paper and book arts, photography, and woodworking and woodturning.

Brookfield Craft Center is at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25), just east of the “four corners” intersection with Route 7/202. The center’s gallery and gift shop are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
